All the children had a good time with a selection of classic Christmas Party Games. Meeting Santa Claus is one of the most exciting part of a child’s Christmas and that is an experience they witnessed and shared in at the Christmas Party.

NLCC Career Talk & Futsal

Career choices for the older youths is our big focus at the moment. Many in the flush of the moment enrolled for courses and then, simply dropout mid-way, lose their bearings, lose hope and we target these minds.

As a result of this, we have organized several “Youth Motivational and Enhancing Camps” bringing in Motivational speaks such as Jerryson and his team- conducting these life changing seminars and workshops that will help raise the self esteem and awareness of the Youths.

Ultimately it is “engagement” that NLCC continually strives to achieve. Engagement is strategic to transforming the lives of the youth that we focus on. It makes sound sense then, to engage our youths in sports such as FUTSAL! This “Futsal thrust” is to bring about our Initiative of “ Anti Bullying” in which this will be the platform for us as the NLCC to help engage the Community in combating this scourge. The Youths of the NLCC and their “friends” will embark on this initiative to bring about both awareness and ways to combat this problem both in the schools and community.

Our Anti Bullying campaign is an initiative that is in urgent need To meet this menace head on, NLCC is working strenuously to create and spread awareness via seminars and workshop. On the other front NLCC offers private counseling sessions to victims of bullying thus giving them the hearing ear they so desperately need and prevent their young minds from gravitating towards drastic measures that result in good lives lost.

We welcome your participation in this NLCC Initiative, so do come join us to tackle this problem and make the environment for our children a safer and better place.

NLCC Movie Day: Peter Rabbit

Saturday 17th March 2018 was a truly memorable day for the children of the New Life Community Centre.  Through the kindness and generosity of the Kiwanis Club of Bukit Kiara, these children were treated to the screening of the movie “Peter Rabbit” at MBO cinema at Cittamall.  There were huge smiles on their faces as they were each given a goodie bag containing popcorn, a burger and a cup of fruit juice to heighten the enjoyment of the treat they were so eagerly looking forward to. The theatre resounded with shouts and laughter of the excited kids as they were drawn into the enthralling adventures of the cute and mischievous Peter Rabbit and his family Mopsy, Flopsy and Cotton Tail in Mr McGregor’s vegetable garden.  It was little wonder how this little bunch of furry, floppy-eared rabbits totally captivated the hearts of the children with their hilarious acts throughout the movie.  ”OMG! This is the best ever!” remarked 7 year old Eva Joy, “All the kids, and the snacks, I had so much fun especially with Aunty Annabelle!”

The New Life Community Centre would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Immediate Past President Terrence Dass and President Elect Sherri Azwina for kindly inviting the children of the NLCC to be a part of their CSR event. A great big thanks also the volunteers who accompanied the children and made the day so memorable for everyone involved.

Children’s Christmas Party

‘Tis the season to be jolly!

Christmas is a truly joyous time for children everywhere.  On the 16th of December the New Life Community Centre hosted a fun-filled Christmas Party for 80 children at a Sri Jati 1 Condominium in Puchong.  The children were treated to an entertaining magic show by Mr Allan Clown who had them all squealing and giggling with laughter.  The kids were even more excited when he brought out Ernie, the puppet from the kids show Elmo and His Friends.  He truly mesmerized the kids with funny faces and voices, jokes and songs.

Santa Claus made his surprise entrance in the midst of all the fun and had the children jumping in excitement when he brought out his goodie bag of presents.  The Emcee of the day, Mr Jerry Joseph did a truly wonderful job of entertaining the children with his games and hilarious jokes.  He even had them dance and sing along to the popular tune of Jingle Bells.  It was really heart-warming to see the children’s smiling faces and their hands full carrying goodie bags and presents as they happily said their goodbyes to everyone.

All this was made possible due to the kind and generous contributions of our well-wishers and sponsors Dato’ Sri Lee Tuck Foo,  Mr Yeoh Jin Hoe, Mr Anand, Mr Steve Lee, Ms Anna Wong, Mr Sivam, Ms Anita and Ms Joy.  The NLCC would like to take this opportunity to express their gratitude and say a big “Thank You!” to all our sponsors.

We would also like to thank the organising committee headed by Janet Gomez, Ruth Malar and each and every volunteer of NLCC who did an amazing job of sprucing up the venue with Christmas decorations as well as catering the most delicious tea-time desserts for the children.

We would also like to thank Amoy Canning Corporation BHD for sponsoring the drinks for this event.

Here’s wishing everyone a Happy New Year 2018!

Youth Day 25th November 2017

On the 25th November 2017 a youth gathering was held at our Centre from 9.00am to 4.00pm. A total of 9 young boys and girls ranging from 13 years to 20 years attended this gathering.

The aim of this gathering was to bring an awareness to the youths about themselves and those around them. Through various games and activities they were motivated to work as a team and encourage one another to think in a positive way. The program was centered on the following themes:

– Discovering yourself
– Goodness in yourself
– Importance of the Word in our life
– Impacting others around you
– How to become one
– Seeing the goodness in others
– Encouragements
– Role at home/community/church

Joshua Thomas was one of the youths who attend the session and he reacted positively by saying that he had learnt to see the success and bright future in a person and believe in him.

Similarly, Royston Jude commented that he realized that not only in the big things we do but also in the littlest thing we do we will be recognized as there is always someone who is watching us.

Franklin Roosevelt was right in saying that we cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future. When our youth arise and act, they will have the dynamism to generate a huge transformation in society and ultimately, our nation.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude and thanks to Mr Jerry Joseph for his time and efforts for making this Youth Day a huge success. The best is yet to come.

Open your mouth and say ‘Aaah’ – Dental Day at NLCC

We were privileged to have Fernandez & Peter Dental Clinic PJ at our center on 28 October 2017 in which about 36 of our children were given free dental checkup.

This was something new to us and what started off with fear in the children at first, soon dissipated under the loving care of Dr Amirtha Peter and her two assistants, Marvie Agpalo and Naomi Nyami who took time off amidst their busy schedule to visit our center and spend time with our children, teaching them proper oral hygiene and care.

We would like to personally thank Dr Amirtha Peter and the clinic for extending their hands in partnership with NLCC in making an impact on the lives of the underprivileged families at Kampung Muhibbah, Jalan Kelang Lama.

A fresh new beginning to great years ahead!

Building Foundation through Education – Student Empowerment Course

For the past four months, we had about 18 students from the ages of 10 to 18 who attended and completed the Student Empowerment Course organised by New Life Community Center (NLCC) in partnership with Achievers Platform.

The purpose of this course was to help students to learn how to concentrate in their studies, retain in memory on what taught and learned as well as to prepare for their upcoming examinations. This course led to a gradual transformation in the lives of these students academically and personally as noticed by their respective parents and teachers.

The founders of Achievers Platform, Mr Anthony Dass and his wife, Ms Thana have been helping students nationwide with their education and personal lives for more than 17 years. Their programs have helped children to excel in education, leadership, communication, memory enhancement, note-taking, and engaging in the right and effective methods to study and boost concentration.

This four-month course was conducted at the NLCC center and the lessons were divided into four parts: Memory Mastery, Note-taking, Speed Reading and Public Speaking.

Together with the parents, NLCC would like to express a heartfelt gratitude towards Mr Dass and Ms Thana for their valuable time and dedication in making an impact on the lives of these children in such short span of time.

We also would like to acknowledge and thank Mr Robson Silva for his time and dedication in initiating the course and seeing it through to completion in its entirety up to the day of graduation by sending out reminders to the students and parents, organising transport for the students as well as accompanying them in class.

‘Hari Keluarga’ PRUkasih & NLCC

On 8 October 2017, we had a ‘Hari Keluarga PRUkasih’ with the families at PPR Kampung Muhibbah as part of our community outreach with PRUkasih and Generasi Gemilang. This event was organised to spread awareness amongst the lower income families on the free financial protection plan available under PRUkasih for a better future.

We started off the day with Zumba Dance, courtesy of a professional instructor, Mr Norman and his Zumba team, a treat for the ladies of Kg Muhibbah who let down their hair on the dance floor with some of our volunteers. We had our own version of Wheel of Fortune with many exciting prizes won in addition to the door gifts from PRUkasih upon registration.

The NLCC Literacy Center on the other hand, leveraged on this opportunity to bring books and story reading closer to the children in this community. The children were captivated by all the multi-coloured pages and mysteries hidden in these books. Almost all of the children here have little or no exposure to having books in their homes. As we push to build awareness on the importance of this, the day was filled with joyous sights of children reading and exploring.

Single mothers were not left out in this event and were given an opportunity to sign up for classes to enhance their skills to start their own small businesses in getting side income to help make ends meet.

We thank you for your kind contribution in making this event a memorable and an impactful one for the families at PPR Kg Muhibbah. A small help goes a long way and a smile engraved on a face is forever cherished.
Stay tune for more updates here!
